Waiel Awwad is a journalist since 1979. He has covered war and conflict zones among his other assignments. He has survived several attempts to his life, one among them being captured in Iraq in 2003, besides lucky escapes in Jaffna, Kargil and Afghanistan. He is the author of a book of short stories in Arabic while his book on the Iraq invasion and captivity will be published soon.
