Rashmi Narzary is a dog lover at heart, an author by passion and an independent editor by profession. Re-imagination of folklore and legends is her forte. Her acclaimed debut novel Bloodstone, Legend of the Last Engraving is woven around chronicles and legends of the famed Kamakhya temple in Guwahati. Her second novel An Unfinished Search is a historical fiction set in the Indo-Bangladesh border at Karimganj, portraying the rootlessness and loss of identity that war and partition of nations cause. Her Whistles of the Siphoong, Tales from Assam’s Bodo Heartland, is a lyrical narrative of stories inspired by the way of life of indigenous Bodos of Assam. The Lost Soul of the Joukhoorei is her eighth book to be released soon. She was awarded Sahitya Akademi for Children’s Literature in 2016 for her collection of short stories His Share of Sky. She was also honoured with Prag Prerona Award for Literature in 2020. Her work is being taught in universities and researched for doctoral thesis and have been translated into other Indian and foreign languages.
