Rakhee Kalita Moral is currently a Professor and Head of English and the Chair, Centre for Women’s Studies at Cotton University, Guwahati, Assam. She also holds the position of Dean Faculty of Arts( Language, Literature and Linguistics) at Cotton University. With a PhD in American literature she worked on the poetry of T.S.Eliot, and later researched in literary and cultural theory and gender studies. Her current area of research interests lie at the intersections of Postcolonial literature and society, Gender and feminist theory and Environmental Humanities and NE India Studies.
She has published a feminist handbook, Once Upon the Hills: A Handbook of Naga Women’s Voices and Visions, (2022) under HaB-IIAS, Leiden University’s research consortium and has edited South Asian Review’s special issue on NE Indian Anglophone Literature (2023).
Her forthcoming monograph on female rebels of Assam is titled Under the Shadow of the Red Sun : Gender, Power and Insurgency in India’s Northeast
