Parthajit Baruah is an author and filmmaker. His books include A History of India’s North-East Cinema: Deconstructing the Stereotypes, Face to Face: The Cinema of Adoor Gopalakrishnan, History of Assamese Cinema, and Aribam Syam Sharma: The Luminary of Indian Cinema. He contributed a chapter Shakespeare in Assamese cinema to the book Shakespeare and Indian Cinemas: Local Habitations. He has done two research projects on Assamese cinema at the National Film Archive of India, Pune. He has directed 12 documentaries and one feature film The Nellie Story, which has been screened at national and international film festivals. He also used to deliver lectures on films in India and abroad.
