Paramita Satpathy is an Indian Revenue Service official and a bi-lingual writer of Odia and English with 25 books of story collections, novels, novella collections and poem collections to her credit. Her works have been translated into several Indian and European languages. Prominent among her books are Intimate Pretence, A Boundless Moment and Colours of Loneliness. Her important works in Hindi include Dur ke Pahad, Chandan ke Phul, Paap aur Anya Kahaniyan, Prapti, Abhipret Kaal, Andhere main Ankhen, Tum aur Shabd, etc. Her stories and poems are incorporated in college and university course curriculum.
She received Sahitya Akademi Award in 2016 for her collection of novellas Prapti (A Boundless Moment). Her recent novel on freedom struggle in Odia Abhipret Kaal (A Time Desired) has won her Sharala Award. Her other awards also includes Assam Sahitya Sabha Samman. Paramita’s works mark the new strides that women’s fiction writing in the country seems to be taking. She is currently posted as Chief Commissioner of Income Tax in New Delhi.
