Nabin Baruah is an author of eight Assamese novels and a collection of short stories. His Cotton College published in 1965 is considered the first campus novel written in an Indian language. He has also contributed numerous articles to Assamese newspapers and magazines. His wrote a popular fortnightly column Ditiyo Mot (second opinion) in Sadin weekly newspaper. He was the founder producer of Yuvabani programme in All India Radio in 1975. Later, he established his own publishing house Purbanchal Prakash. Baruah was the founder president of Northeast Book Fair. He also served as the president of All Assam Publishers’ and Book Sellers’ Association.
