Born in Majuli, the world’s largest river island and a resident of Dibrugarh, Juri Borah Borgohain started her career as a journalist, then a college teacher and currently a full-time writer. Her first novel Dibrugarh Biswabidyalayar Nandini was published in 2004. Her other novels are Apunjonor Thikona (2007), Abhilashi Jatra (2008), Rag Emon (2009), Naangfaa (2010), Ledolam (2012), Bhook (2015), Angkush (2018), Sihont (2020), Chinyor (2022), Camouflage, and Jalaj published serially in Dainik Janambhumi (Basundhara). Besides, she has published 23 novelettes, several stories, essays, and travelogues in popular newspapers and magazines. She co-authored two books with Lakshinandan Borgohain – Bonshak Aru Iyar Byobohar (a book on herbs) and Ek Sondhan Jatra (edited).
Amar Shak Chinaki, Amar Mas Chinaki, Amar Fol Chinaki and Gamusar Chaneki Biaari are her research-based sequels on local herbs, fishes, fruits and traditional cloth respectively published in prestigious Satsari magazine. She has to her credit a number of tele-films and interviews telecast in different television channels. She has presented and published research papers in national and international conferences and journals. Her creations have been considered as reference book, subject of research and projects by the scholars. Some of her works have been translated to different languages and drama, song, poem, etc., have been written based on her works. She has contributed articles to the pioneer Assamese Software Dictionary and Encyclopedia, Assam Buranjikush, etc. She is a recipient of National Akashvani Annual Award 2018 for best documentary for Stilwell Road: The Memory of a Forgotten War, Asom Sahitya Sabha’s President’s Special Literary Award 2018 for her novel Bhook, Lekhika Samaroh Sahitya Bota 2020 from Sadou Asom Lekhika Samaroh Samiti for her literary works, Namphake Sahitya Sanman 2023, Harendra Chandra Borkakati Award 2009 for her novel Raag… Emon, Special Recognition of Jeevan Initiative 2012 for Ledolam, Yuva Anuprerona Award 2013, Anonya Nari Anonyo Grantha Award 2021.
