He is an Assamese poet, novelist and a teacher. As a social activist, he has been consistently pursuing the cause of safeguarding mother tongue as medium of instruction. He has five collections of poems, two novels and two other books to his credit. He has been honoured with Sabda Award 2011, Soubhatra Sanman 2014, Santosh Kumar Karmakar Raijyik Award 2021, Mahendra Hazarika Award 2021, and Yapanchitra National Poetry Award 2023.
