Chitra Viraraghavan is a writer, book editor, children’s writer, anthologist and novelist. Her first novel, The Americans, set in the Indian community in the US, was published to critical acclaim in both India and the US; her second novel, Watcher of the Skies, historical fiction with a parallel contemporary story, is forthcoming (2026). She is the co-editor of the anthology Madras on My Mind: A City in Stories, and the writer of Delhi Thaatha: A Great Grand Story, a memoir from a child’s point-of-view of her great-grandfather Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan. She has written several general books for children, as well as primary and middle-school textbook series, and been both in-house and freelance editor for nearly four decades. Together with her writer husband, Krishna Shastri Devulapalli, she started an independent publishing house, Running Head Books.
