Andrew Fidel Fernando is an award-winning author and journalist based in Colombo. He writes on the various subjects he nerds out on: cricket, history, politics, food, and travel. His book Upon a Sleepless Isle is the only non-fiction title ever to win the Gratiaen Prize, Sri Lanka’s biggest English-language literary prize. In addition to being a senior writer for ESPNcricinfo, Fidel has produced long-form features, satire, op-eds and reportage for many international publications, including The Guardian, The Hindu, BBC, FiftyTwo and Indian Express.
When he’s not writing, he’s often freediving, cooking, making mayhem with his two young boys, or failing abysmally at surfing.
