Abdulai Sila, born in Catió, Guinea-Bissau, is a multifaceted professional who seamlessly combines his work in Information and Communication Technology (ICT) with his passion for writing. In 1994, he co-founded Guinea-Bissau’s first private publishing house, Ku Si Mon Editora, which has played a pivotal role in promoting Bissau-Guinean literature, particularly in the fields of fiction and oral tradition.
Sila is the author of four novels, eight plays, and several short stories, along with numerous scientific articles covering Energy, Telecommunications, Appropriate Technology, and Education. His literary works have been translated into French, English, Italian, and German, reaching audiences in Cape Verde, Brazil, Portugal, France, the UK, Italy, and Germany. His plays have been performed by theatre groups in Angola, Brazil, Germany, the USA, Portugal, and Spain.
He holds a master’s degree in Electrical Engineering from the Technische Universität Dresden (Germany) and was a senior visiting fellow at the University of Maryland (USA) in 2005. Currently, he serves as the President of the PEN Centre in Guinea-Bissau and Regional Ambassador for the Technische Universität Dresden. Sila has been recognised with several prestigious awards in Guinea-Bissau, France, and Portugal.
