Ananya Vajpeyi is a scholar and writer, working at the intersection of intellectual history, political theory and critical philology. She is the author of the award-winning book, Righteous Republic: The Political Foundations of Modern India (2012), and most recently of Place: Intimate Encounters with Cities (2026). She is a Professor at the Centre for the Study of Developing Societies, New Delhi and a Visiting Professor at Ashoka University, Sonipat. She writes widely for newspapers and magazines in India and overseas about ideas, arts and politics.
