Kyung-Sook Shin is the author of several novels and short-story collections. Her literature debut, Winter’s Fable, won her Munye Joongang New Author Prize. Her other noteworthy works include Deep Sorrow, A Lone Room, The Train Departs at 7, Violet, I’ll Be Right There and international bestseller Please Look After Mom. Please Look After Mom sold over two million copies in South Korea and has been translated into more than 30 languages. It won her the 2011 Man Asian Literary Prize, making her the first Korean and first woman to win the prize. Among her many honours are: Yi Sang Literary Award, Dong-in Literary Award, Hyundae Munhak Award, Manhae Literature Prize and France’s Prix de l’Inaperçu.
